Salmon and Halibut fishing Ucluelet This is the time of year to book your fishing trip for 2024 out of Ucluelet. We had better than average halibut fishing in 2023 in close to shore which made less running time. There were great returns to rivers that support the Ucluelet fishery in 2023 including the Stamp River from Port Alberni. We are expecting another large run of Chinook salmon to go through from the Columbia River during most of June and July and then have a large run of Chinook returning to Barkley Sound in August. Ucluelet is one of the most consistent productive places to catch salmon on the Vancouver Island coast. We have the largest feeding area on the coast for all types of fish including salmon, halibut and ling cod which generally means the fish are somewhere ready to bite. Most people fly into Comox or alternatively Nanaimo and then take the 3 hour drive to Ucluelet. Most people do a 3 day fishing trip which starts around $1850 per person from June 20-Sept 10 and slightly less for early season starting mid May. Our Salmon Eye guides realize you want to get the most from your short vacation time and we are dedicated to get you into the action as soon as your trip starts. We have fished many hours on the water here and know where and when to put down for the fish so you have a successful fishing trip. Our 25-29ft heated boats have heated cabins and large decks so you don’t have to dress in oversized suits to keep warm. Check out www.salmoneye.net/site/fishing-packages.html for all our packages. We start fishing in May and wrap up in late September. The Pacific Rim is one of the most beautiful places in the world. For more things to do in Tofino and Ucluelet check out www.tofino-info.com.
